Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers at Kids’ Choice Awards 2008!

Many stars vied for honors at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2008 on Saturday, but only two mattered to the thousands of screaming children on hand.

Miley Cyrus, the 15-year-old heroine of the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana,” and the Jonas Brothers, a pop band comprised of three fresh-faced siblings, were the top draws at the Oscars for the pint-sized set. A-listers like Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz could only look on in bemusement.

Cyrus performed her Disney single “G.N.O. (Girl’s Night Out),” at the 90-minute ceremony, and picked up a pair of orange blimp statuettes for favorite female singer and television actress.

Her “Hannah Montana” concert tour was the hottest ticket in the land last year, with anxious parents paying thousands of dollars for scalped tickets. The scarcity of tickets prompted political probes and even a Federal Reserve economics primer on the basics of supply and demand. A concert film recently topped the North American box office.

Arriving at the Pauley Pavilion with three bodyguards in tow, Cyrus elicited ear-splitting shrieks from the excitable fans. When she took to the stage to accept her awards, she thanked, in true Hollywood style, “my lord and savior Jesus Christ” and her coterie of managers and agents.

 

The Jonas Brothers — Joe, 18, Kevin, 20, and Nick, 15 — were named favorite music group.

The ceremony, now in its 21st year, is organized by Viacom Inc-owned kids cable channel Nickelodeon. Host Jack Black said more than 88 million votes were cast online. Last year’s telecast drew a record 6.1 million viewers across the United States. The show is also broadcast internationally.

The decidedly goofy event gives serious Hollywood celebrities an excuse to degrade themselves for children’s amusement. Harrison Ford and Orlando Bloom were drenched in green slime, the network’s traditional badge of honor. Diaz, winner of the Wannabe Award for best role model, took time out in a special booth to display her belching skills.

Zac Efron: ‘Hollywood Parties aren’t My Thing’

Teen heartthrob Zac Efron is determined not to be drawn in by the Hollywood party scene – insisting he can have fun without going to wild clubs.

The clean-living High School Musical star would rather lead a grounded existence, and is repulsed by the thought of joining the debauched Hollywood party circuit.

He says, “I don’t find myself drawn to that scene. I think acting is a tradition that far pre-dates celebrity and, today, the two are just meshing. It’s not even that I’ve made a conscious decision not to party.”

“I don’t think clubbing is a choice you make. You can have fun with friends without part of that scene.”

Jonas Brothers New Reality Show!!!!!

The series, which is shooting under the working title “Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream,” will follow the on- and off-stage lives of the platinum selling trio on their current Look Me in the Eyes Tour. The series is set to debut in the spring on the Disney Channel, and will give fans unfettered access to the lives of the Jonas brothers as they travel the world.

Fans can share the experiences with the Jonases on the tour bus, as they rehearse and perform, go sky-diving and race go-carts. It also will follow them as they interact with their parents and younger brother, Keven aka “Bonus Jonas”.

This news is only the latest in Disney’s master plan for Jonas extreme superstardom. In addition to their million-selling album last summer, the brothers Jonas are set to record a third album, begin production on another TV show called J.O.N.A.S! (Junior Operatives Networking As Spies), and a TV movie, Camp Rock, will hit the air in June.

Ashlee Simpson Gets Ready for a Bittersweet World!

 

Ever since she appeared on televisions all over the world in her MTV reality show, Ashlee Simpson has been a fixture in American popular culture. And she has finally set a release date for her much-anticipated third album Bittersweet World.

The “La La” singer was spotted lunching at Café Med restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California yesterday, sporting a tattoo on her wrist and a casual ensemble including a striped v-neck, cardigan sweater and stretch pants.

Simpson’s new album has officially been slated for an April 22nd release date, although one of the album’s tracks, “Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)” was digitally released in December (it has sold 117,000 digital copies thus far).

The first official single from Bittersweet World is called “Little Miss Obsessive” and features Plain White T’s frontman (and pal of Ashlee’s man, Pete Wentz) Tom Higginson on vocals.

According to preliminary reviews, the album has a definite ‘80s vibe to it. And Ashlee wouldn’t have it any other way. She told press, “I almost wish I lived my 20s in the ‘80s. A lot of the record is a bit cheeky. Sometimes I’m writing about something serious, but it was fun for me to kind of goof around as well.”

Ashley Tisdale’s Curl Straightening Day

While fame and fortune are the epitome of success for celebrities, it all comes at a cost. And Ashley Tisdale found out first hand yesterday that being Hollywood’s “IT” girl comes with its downfalls.

Accompanied by her mother Lisa, the “High School Musical” actress was hounded by paparazzi as she left the Chris McMillan Salon in Beverly Hills, California. Things got so bad that she even needed the help of a friend to make it to her car.

Sporting a fabulous straight coif, a screen-printed t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of Roman Sandals, Ashley looked a bit bewildered by the overwhelming shutterbug presence.

Prior to her stop at the beauty shop, Tisdale went shopping at Kitson on Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood. She even signed autographs and posed for pictures with her fans.

Hilary Duff: Out in Brentwood

It was a relaxing springtime day in Brentwood, California yesterday. And Hilary Duff was out and about, enjoying the sunshine.

The paparazzi caught up to the “With Love” singer at a Chevron gas station. She was looking very cute in an extra-long black and white striped tank top with black pants and a pair of running shoes.

On Monday, the Hilary was on her way to Katsuya Japanese restaurant to meet some friends when a swarm of shutterbugs descended upon her. A little more scandalously-dressed, Hilary sported a miniskirt, tube top, and some stockings.

Unfazed, she handled the situation like the seasoned pro that she is, avoiding questions about her personal life, and opting to talk about her slew of upcoming movies- Safety Glass, Greta, and War Inc., and what happened to that movie Food Fight, that was supposed to come out last year?

Jonas Brothers Announce “The Burning Up Tour” Summer Dates!

The Jonas Brothers have announced they will kick off their North American summer concert tour with a gig at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto.

“The Burning Up Tour” is to begin July 4 in Toronto and through Aug. 31, with stops in more than two dozen cities.

“We’ve had an awesome time touring and having an opportunity to see so many of our fans,” the Jonas Brothers said in a statement. “Every time we play, we learn so much and grow both as artists and a band. We really can’t wait to get back on the road this summer.”

“The Burning Up Tour” is produced by Live Nation.

The band also announced Wednesday it has established an official fan club called Team Jonas. Fans who join the club at JonasBrothersFanClub.com will be eligible for exclusive benefits including early access to concert tickets.

The group is currently wrapping up its “Look Me in the Eyes Tour,” Live Nation said.

Zac Efron About Tyra Banks: “She Was My First Love!”

High School Musical star Zac Efron has claimed supermodel Tyra Banks was his “first love“.

The 20-year-old actor admitted he used to have a poster of the America’s Next Top Model presenter on his ceiling when he was a teenager, Digital Spy reported.

“I had that famous poster of [Tyra] in a purple bathing suit in my room seventh or eighth grade,” the Hairspray actor said. “I thought she was so hot. She was my first love.”

Zac has previously admitted he loves “curvaceous and beautiful women“, including his on-again-off-again girlfriend and High School Musical costar Vanessa Hudgens, the Daily Star reported.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Zac claimed he saw a ghost on the Isle of Man while filming the upcoming movie Me and Orson Welles.

According to Now magazine Zac and 28-year-old costar Claire Danes claimed they saw the spooky apparition while on a shoot in the Gaiety Theatre, which is rumoured to be haunted.

It is thought that the actor is getting ready to take on Kevin Bacon‘s famous role in the remake of the classic ’80s film Footloose.
