Jonas Brothers Score No. 1 Album with Third Best-Selling First Week of 2008!

20 Aug

As we all expected, the Jonas Brothers score their first No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 this week with A Little Bit Longer. The set sold 525,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, the third biggest sales frame this year behind Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter III (1,006,000) and Coldplay‘s Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends (721,000).

The trio also scores the rare feat of having two albums simultaneously in the upper-most echelon of the chart, as their self-titled sophomore set rises 11-10 with 31,000 (-4%) in its 54th chart week. It’s the first time a group has scored two concurrent top 10 albums since ‘N Sync on the chart dated Jan. 2, 1999, with Home for Christmas at No. 10 and ‘N Sync at No. 2.

But that’s not all. The soundtrack to the Disney film Camp Rock, which stars the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, stays put at No. 8 for a second week with 50,000 copies sold this week! 🙂

We totally knew this would happen! CONGRATS JONAS BROTHERS!!! 😀

Corbin Bleu Recording New Sophomore Album!

20 Aug

Corbin Bleu spoke with, about his new album that he’ll be recording, and he talked a little bit about High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

“There will be a lot of differences with the second album,” Bleu says. “First of all, it’s just more personal. I’m involved in every aspect of the writing. As far as the direction of the music, it’s very different. I wanted this album to have something that was a little bit of rock, a little bit of R&B and a little bit of pop.”

“The R&B has wonderful rhythms and beats,” he continues. “I’m a dancer, and when I perform live I love to dance. So I have to make sure it has that nice kicking bass. The pop sound is to make it a little bit more now, and when it comes to the rock, it makes it very live feeling, very instrumental. I listen to a lot of music like classic rock, alternative, hip-hop, classical, jazz, whatever. So I’m very musical and like to be able to incorporate that into my music as well.”

Bleu, 19, said producer Eric Hudson (Kanye West) is attached to the majority of the project, along with songwriter/lyricist Claude Kelly. So far all three have collaborated on material. Unreleased songs already getting stage time include the ballad “Close,” the anthemic rock track “Whatever It Takes” and the R&B-leaning “Champion.” The currently untitled album is due out in February 2009 via Hollywood Records.

Looking ahead to the Oct. 24 feature film release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Bleu hints fans can expect big numbers.

“(Director) Kenny Ortega, when he has a bigger budget, he’s going to go for it,” Bleu says. “So we have really huge numbers and a lot of different dance genres including cha-cha-cha and breakdancing. We even have a Bob Fosse tribute. Zac (Efron) and I have a really cool duet called ‘The Boys are Back.'”

Cool! We can’t wait to hear some new material from Corbin! 🙂
